About the Camp

This camp is being put on for 3 days over Thanksgiving break, and is designed for elementary grade children with special needs. The camp is being run in partnership with the Mitchell Thorp Foundation (MTF).

Mitchell Thorp Foundation

MTF (www.mitchellthorp.org) is a Public Benefit 501C3 corporation that was founded in 2009 by the Thorp Family after Mitchell's passing a year earlier.

MTF supports families whose children suffer from life-threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders, by providing financial, emotional and resource support to their desperate situations.

In recognition of Mitchell's legacy, MTF has a strong commitment to developing and inspiring youth leadership in our community and that is why we developed the Youth Leadership Council (YLC). The primary focus areas of the group are community service and leadership development, with the dual objectives of expanding MTF's outreach and fostering the development of young servant leaders.

Recently, one of the MTF YLC, Tess Dufour (also a CDC student) asked to take on a service project of providing an opportunity for kids with special needs to learn how to dance.

Out of Tess' inspiration, and with the support of both MTF and CDC, "Dancin Feet" was born.
