Laura is a homegrown product of Carlsbad Dance Centre.  Her mom enrolled Laura in her first dance class at the age of three and for the next fourteen years she studied jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical and clogging.  As a student of Ginya Sherlock, Jana Romaine, Tracy Doty and Jamila Abru, Laura was deeply inspired and knew dance would always be a major part of her life.  She performed as a member of the CDC Competition Team and won numerous awards for her solos, duets and small groups.  She began student assisting at the age of thirteen and knew right away teaching dance was a dream that she would pursue.  Laura was also a member of the Carlsbad Dance Theatre under the direction of Donna Cory; during this time she had the opportunity to perform in numerous shows with the company including dancing at the Broadway Dance Centre in New York.

Laura attended Carlsbad High School and was a four year member of the Lancer Dancers varsity dance team.  Under the direction of Carrie Smith, the team was awarded 1st place National Champions in the Varsity Jazz division for three consecutive years in Orlando, Florida. The team also won the 2002 ESPN TV Challenge and was featured on ESPN.

Laura graduated from Cal State San Marcos in 2008 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree.  She is currently working towards her teaching credentials, with plans to become an elementary school teacher.  Laura taught several “kid classes” at Carlsbad High School and has choreographed for the Lancer Dancers, CSUSM dance team and the YMCA. She is also a founding member of the Cal State San Marcos Lady Cougars ASI dance team.

When she’s not teaching, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach and traveling (when flying is not involved!).  Laura is excited to be part of the CDC staff and would like to express her deep appreciation to Jana and Ron for giving her the opportunity to live out a dream.  Additionally, she would like to say a special “Thank You” to her family and Kevin for their unconditional love and support.
